Happy Saturday! And welcome back to the latest volume of Miscellany, my weekly round up of what I’ve been enjoying. This week includes a few To Wears, a fitness To Try, a To Eat and a few To Follows. In To Wear I have a few things that have been on my wishlist as I’ve been thinking about transitional dressing. In To Try I’m sharing the Pilates method I’ve loved throughout work from home, as well as my go to shop for knitting kits (you read that right!). In To Eat I’ve got a restaurant review for you in Greenpoint, and in To Follow I’m sharing a few IG accounts I’ve been consistently loving. Now let’s get to it!

TO WEAR

This Sweater, in all color ways. To know me is to know my love of knitwear. This sweater is the gift that keeps on giving, and I’m in serious meltdown over wanting every version of it. For fall, I’m seeing it with the dark blue velvet boots I link in my next To Wear and a fun skirt or some (god forbid) skinny jeans. I’m also linking the multi-colored version from a few additional retailers where it’s still in stock– it seems to be a hot ticket item this Fall!

These Velvet Boots. Okay, okay I know these are a splurge, but I am LOVING the Tamara Mellon boot line up this fall, particularly all of the styles in velvet. I’m thinking of treating myself to a pair of the Eclipse boots, but I’ve also linked two other contenders that are toying with my emotions If you’re not familiar with the brand, Tamara Mellon co-founded Jimmy Choo and launched her own eponymous line a few years back. It’s a brand that I come back to frequently because I feel like it marries cool girl chic and elegance in a really interesting way. All of this is to say, given this fall’s lineup, I’m about to be a lot poorer.

This Sports Bra and Legging Set. I linked this on my IG story this week, but I really like the Good Karma pieces from FP Movement. I do find that they can be a bit sheer on stretch, so just keep in mind when purchasing. I have this set in a few different colors, and it is super easy to wear, and holds up well in the wash. These are my go to sets for car travel as well because they are generally comfy on top of being good workout wear!

TO TRY

This Pilates Method. B The Method by Lia Bartha is heavy in my workout rotation. She has a variety of pilates classes, varying in length and focus, and she’s constantly expanding her library. When I do her method consistently, not only do I feel like I see the more obvious benefits (core strength, muscle tone etc.), but I also feel like my hips are a bit more open and my spine is a bit longer. I really appreciate the intentionality of the movements, and that her method is so focused on connecting with your body rather than putting it through its paces. It’s meditative and restorative on top of just being a damn good workout.

These Knitting Kits. I grew up knitting thanks to Montessori school, but I’ve returned to knitting as a hobby in the past year. My hobby has been made infinitely easier thanks to Wool and the Gang, which offers kits to knitting novices like me who might not otherwise know where to start. I’ve been working on the Simone sweater set for a while now, and I’ve also made two prior sweaters using their kits. It’s super accessible and all around fun. Highly recommend.

TO EAT

This Cocktail Bar/Italian Restaurant. If you live in New York, or are planning a visit, I highly recommend a dinner at Milk and Roses. We went there last night for the first time and holy cow was it amazing. The drinks and food were out of this world, for relatively reasonable prices by New York standards. I had the Bucatini Genovese and it did not disappoint.

TO FOLLOW

This breaks a bit from my usual format, but I wanted to share a few accounts I’ve been enjoying this week on Instagram. In addition to friends/family posts, my IG follow list is a mix of news and fashion. These are some folks I’ve loved recently and I hope you’ll love them too!

Lynae Vanee – @_lyneezy

I’m always surprised when I find out my friends aren’t following @_lyneezy by this point. Her Parking Lot Pimpin’ series is insightful and entertaining, and is a masterclass in crafting arguments. I look forward to the new videos each and every Friday. Her style is also impeccable, but that’s just an added bonus. I highly recommend following her if you don’t already for thoughtful and thought-provoking social commentary.

Lil Ahenkan@flex.mami

She’s one of my all time favorite follows, and she prevents thought provoking questions that her followers actually engage with. She’s moving her premium content to a paywalled close friends on September 1, but I highly recommend you opt in. She’s an absolute genius, and her resumé is insane (entrepreneur, DJ, podcast host, TV star… the list goes on and on). I will note that her story is not for the faint of heart. You’ll understand what I mean when I get there.

*I may get a small commission for purchases made through links on this page. Think of it like a fashion finder’s fee.*
